Sheena lost 40 pounds. This single mom of four didn’t let depression, sleep apnea, or anxiety stop her. Walking, guided meditation, counting calories, and prayer helped her to succeed. Check out her transformation story.
I’m a 33-year-old single mom of four, and I’ve been a registered nurse for ten years. I started my weight loss journey, AGAIN lol, back in May after hitting 262.4 pounds. (I honestly think I was heavier than that.)
After struggling with depression and anxiety, which peaked after my
grandmother passed in 2016. I hated the way I looked and felt. My knees and back hurt, as well. I was easily winded, snoring loudly, and even starting to have some sleep apnea.
I started doing guided meditation, kicked up my prayer life, and really focused on an inner transformation!
I cut my calories down to 1000-1500/day. I also started walking at least a mile every day. Now its at least three miles a day. I plan to start weight training again soon, but for now, I’m happy with my current self! My current weight is 222 pounds, and my height is 5ā10″.
Biggest lesson: Iām not in competition with anyone, not even myself. Iāve also learned to be more gentle with myself. Everything doesnāt have to have a deadline. My mental and emotional health is just as important as my physical health. Iāve learned to care for myself on every level.
Advice for women who want to lose weight: Every small change, every little step, and every right choice matters! Celebrate and congratulate yourself on even the most modest steps towards progress!

Congrats and thank you for sharing your testimony. I’m battling with depression and anxiety, and am currently in my 6th month of pregnancy. My weight got off track when my Mom passed in Nov 2014 and I’ve yet to be able to get back on track. What steps did you take to increase your prayer life? More devoted time to prayer? Starting writing them down, going through the Psalms? Thanks again and congrats.

Iām so sorry for the late response I made my prayer and meditation time essential! I pray during my workouts and whenever else I need to. Remember prayer is simply a conversation with God doesnāt have to be fancy or fixed up at all!!
