Sheena lost 28 pounds. She is on a mission to lose 100 pounds, a goal she previously achieved back in 2014. Portion control, staying active, and cultivating a new mindset is essential for her.
What was your motivation? When did you start your journey?
I’ve been overweight my whole life. In 2014, I started documenting my journey on Instagram and lost 100 pounds in 14 months.
I kept it off for four years. Being fit was a big part of my life. 2018 -2019, I went through a lot personally and quickly gained all the weight back. I struggled for two years to lose more than 5 pounds, but I wasn’t consistent, and my mindset wasn’t right.
At the start of the quarantine, I was exactly where I started in 2014: 255.6 pounds. I told myself that the way I was going, I was going to weigh 300 pounds soon. I decided that day, 3/25/20, that enough was enough. I was going to lose 100lbs again. On 6/4/20, I weighed in at 235 pounds. On July 18, 2020, I weighed in at 227.8 pounds.
I’m officially 28lbs down, and I want to share my story now for all the women like me who gained the weight back and are feeling discouraged.
It dosn’t matter how long you struggle as long as you don’t give up. I’m not waiting to share my story with you when I hit my 100lb goal. It’s in the process of happening, and I’m celebrating each pound lost.
How did you change your eating habits?
I eat all foods, but now I pay more attention to my portion sizes and don’t eat as many carbs as I did in the past. I drink fat-burning coffee, which has helped suppress my appetite.
What did your workout routine consist of?
I make sure I get at least 10k steps in a day and close all three rings on my watch. I make sure I get moving for at least 25 minutes a day, even if that means just dancing in my room.
How often did you work out?
Every day but some days are active rest days.
What is your height?
5’1″
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned since March?
When so much seems out of your control, the best thing you can do is focus on the things you can control. I am in full control of how much I eat and how active I am.
What advice do you have for women who want to lose weight?
Start with your mindset. Start by making small changes. You don’t have to be extreme. Focus on consistency, personal development, and find your support team.
It doesn’t matter if you have gained weight or how many times you failed. Keep starting over until you get it right.
