Weight Loss Transformation of the Day: Shawn lost 32 pounds. She worked to lose weight and overhaul her health while facing a number of health issues, including hypertension and pre-diabetes. Here is what she shared with us about her journey…
My motivation was my health and seeing my online friend, Asia Ford, losing weight. I have hypertension (high blood pressure), knee pain, back pain, and asthma. I really needed an overhaul of my health. I was diagnosed pre-diabetic in the midst of losing weight, so that really made me determined after I got over my initial anger. My inspiration came from seeing again Asia Ford and her crew in my hometown getting it in. They are relentless her continual post and words of encouragement, and when I asked a question she was always quick to answer.
My starting weight was 194 pounds and my current weight is 162 pounds (5 feet tall). My goal weight is 135. I’m still in transformation mode. First, I tried juicing which is good but not for the long haul for me. What has really worked for me has been using the 21 Day Fix program to help me with portion control. I have eliminated gluten, breads, unhealthy processed and prepackaged foods, beverages and snacks. I eat clean 90/10 because I do allow myself treats. To stave cravings, I drink a superfood shake called Shakeology, water, naturally sweetened teas, and 100 % juices in moderation. I workout 30 minutes a day with my DVD’s and hit the treadmill and weight machines 2-3 times a week.
The advice I would give to others is to wrap your mind around the fact that you may have to do this process alone. Family and friends may start but not finish. It is about you and what your desire is for your future. Don’t be embarrassed about going to the gym and not being in shape. That’s what the gym is for, to get in shape. I use to be embarrassed and then it clicked. I am doing more than yesterday, last week, last month and definitely last year. Get some music and headphones, something that keeps you amped up to drown out negative thoughts.
