Transformation of the Day: Sharian lost 118 pounds. This mom of three started her journey in 2015 after seeing family vacation photos. She transformed her lifestyle with weight loss surgery, healthy eating habits, and lots of exercise.
What was your motivation?
My motivation was seeing pictures of myself on vacation with my family. I couldn’t believe how big I had gotten. I cried and knew I had to do something.
What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
Seeing my body transform and how fast I was losing weight really encouraged me to keep going.
When did you start your journey?
I started my journey in 2015.
How long did your transformation take?
It took me 2-3 years of consistency to reach my goal weight of 145 pounds. After reaching that goal, I wanted to gain a little weight back, and I felt the most comfortable at 165 pounds. I have been maintaining that weight for almost two years.
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
Yes. I had Gastric Bypass weight loss surgery in November 2015. In addition, I had a lower body lift done on August 20, 2021 (by Dr. Gunn @heddenplasticsurgery).
How did you change your eating habits?
I went on a low-carb, high protein diet. It helped me to stay full longer. Also, finding substitutes for some of my favorite meals helped me not feel so deprived.

What did your workout routine consist of?
My workouts consisted mainly of cardio. I started out walking three miles a day. As I got stronger, I added strength training and bodyweight exercises.
How often did you work out?
I worked out 5-7 days in the beginning. Then, as I got more advanced and closer to my goal weight, I cut back to 3-5 days a week.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was 280 pounds, and my current weight is 162 pounds.
What is your height?
I’m 5’5″.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
The biggest lesson I learned was to never give up and to choose myself every time. Never neglect who you are because you can’t be your best self when you do.
What advice do you have for women who want to lose weight?
Never wait for Monday to start your journey. Second, be committed to the process no matter how long it takes. If you fall off, get right back on. And, last but not least, a cheat meal or a cheat day doesn’t mean failure. It means you’re human.
