Sharell lost 55 pounds. She is fueled by a desire to live a long life for my family and break the generational curse of obesity-related illnesses. To change her life, she joined a local fitness program and switched her diet to healthy, whole foods.
When did you start your weight loss journey?
I started my weight loss journey in November 2017, shortly after having my son. At the time, I weighed around 230 pounds.
I found a local fitness program in my area (Travis Garza 6 Week Challenge) that allowed me to lose 45 pounds in approximately a year through dieting and exercise.
What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going when you wanted to give up?
My biggest motivation has been wanting to live a long life for my family. My biggest inspiration was a desire to break the generational curses of diabetes, high blood pressure, and other obesity-related issues.
How did you change your eating habits?
I stopped eating processed foods and switched to a diet that includes more fruits, vegetables, and lean protein options. I am currently limiting my meat intake to one meal a day with the hope of transitioning to a more plant-based diet.
Tell us about your workout routine.
I worked out five days a week doing strength training and cardio.
What is your current weight?
My current weight is 175 pounds.
What is your height?
I’m 5’5″.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned?
The biggest lesson that I’ve learned is to keep going. One thing that hinders people from continuing and/or starting a weight loss journey is wanting to do everything perfectly. Then, they quit when they mess up. There’s always this illusion of doing it tomorrow or the next day. Every minute is an opportunity to reset and reassess. Take advantage of that.
What advice would you share with women who want to lose weight?
My advice is never to give up and always keep positive influences around.
I am currently renewing my weight loss journey, and I’ve created a fitness accountability page. Instagram: @onemonthmama
