What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
My motivation was fueled by my desire to be the best version of myself, as well as wanting to be healthy for my kids’ sake.
My determination and wanting better inspired me. I was sick and tired of being sick and tired. My inspiration was fueled by proving to MYSELF that I could truly make a change and stick to it, not only for me but for my three kids who depend on me.
How did you change your eating habits?
After my mother passed unexpectedly in 2019 from Stage 4 Colon Cancer at the mere age of 59, I was devastated. She was my anchor and my best friend. I went into a whirlwind of depression. Bad eating habits and drinking took over. I gained weight on top of weight, getting pregnant in 2020 with fraternal twins in the middle of a pandemic.
After giving birth to my twins, I weighed a whopping 260 lbs. I was ashamed and depressed. I knew I had to make lifestyle changes. So I started last year by making small changes. I used a program called Total Life Changes which helped jumpstart my weight loss. They have dietary supplements that I consumed daily from June 2021 to now. (Detox teas, energy boosters, appetite suppressants, vitamins, etc.)
In addition to taking these products, I incorporated exercise into my routine. I started small by walking. I still ate my favs but practiced portion control and stopped consuming alcohol throughout the week. If I did have a drink, it was only social.
What is your workout routine?
I try to work out at the gym at least 4-5 times a week. I’m from the South and still love food, so cardio is my best friend (I do it at least three times a week). On the other days, I focus on weight training. I also love a great outdoor workout, so I’ll hike or walk the hills in my neighborhood when I can’t make it to the gym.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was 260 pounds. My current weight is 228 pounds.
What is your height?
5’8″
When did you start your journey? How long did your transformation take?
I started my journey in 2021 after the birth of my fraternal twins. I’m still a work in progress, but I celebrate myself along the way! I’m 228 lbs now. Before my battle with depression and pre-twinsies, I was 190 pounds. So that’s my ultimate goal, and I’ve lost 32 lbs.
I’m not on anyone’s timetable but my own. I’m still giving myself grace after having two humans inside of me. I’m in a happier, healthier place than I was a year ago, and for that, I’m grateful. My transformation is still underway. Every day I’m trying to become the best version of myself I can be!
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
N/A
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
The biggest lesson I’ve learned is to give myself grace! I was so hard on myself right after giving birth to my twins because I felt my “SnapBack” was not happening fast enough. But I’ve learned to love my body in all its flaws because it got me thru a seamless pregnancy with twins, carried them to full term, and after two c-sections, I’m still standing by the grace of God.
What advice do you have for women who want to lose weight?
My advice to any woman looking to lose weight, go after that sh!t! Excuse my French; time waits on no man. If you are unhappy with something, Sis, you have the power to change it! Every day is another 24 to become the best version of yourself!
Work hard, don’t give up on yourself, and stay consistent! Consistency is Key. Remember, those small changes add up! I’ve been in a dark place before, so I know how it feels to get to a point in life where you feel hopeless, but I’m here to tell you there is a light at the end of the tunnel! The weight does not define you! The weight can and will fall off! So go hard for yourself, and celebrate your journey. Every pound loss is a milestone & most importantly, be kind to yourself! You got this, Sis.
