Shanterria lost 53 pounds. She wanted to have more options to express her love for fashion and avoid a family history of diabetes. Switching up her eating habits to prevent plateaus, cutting out all drinks except water, and working out gave her great results.
What was your motivation?
My motivation was not to catch diabetes since it runs in my family. I love fashion, and I wanted to be able to shop and wear different stuff. When I noticed my face and skin looking better, that motivated me to keep going.
How did you change your eating habits?
In the beginning, I started drinking nothing but water. I automatically lost 30 pounds within a few months. I stopped eating after 7 pm and ate lots of salad. I also stayed away from fast food.
Some days, I may go meatless or eat seafood only. Sacrifice always brings excellent results. I might go for two weeks with no sweets or snacks. You have to switch it up to keep seeing results because your weight loss will be at a standstill.
What does your workout routine consist of?
I started walking 4 miles a day. After a year, I started lifting weights. Since I have never been a workout person, I learned during my journey to better health!
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was 270 pounds, and now I weigh 217 pounds.
What is your height?
I am 5’3″.
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
No, I wanted my journey to be natural with no surgery. I wanted to be a testimony that you can lose weight naturally.
