Transformation of the Day: Shantell lost 26 pounds. She was tired of starting over and didn’t want to be put on high blood pressure medication. Cardio, low fat vegan meals and intermittent fasting worked for her. Check out her story.
What was your motivation?
I started getting serious about my health when I found out that my blood pressure was creeping up too high. That really scared me and I didn’t want to be put on blood pressure medication, so I started making changes. What inspires me to keep going is that I am tired of starting over.
How did you change your eating habits?
I stopped eating fast food and junk food. I also stopped drinking pop. After I cut out all the junk, I started eating home cooked meals only. I had eggs, hashbrowns and toast for breakfast. Chicken, broccoli, and steamed potatoes are some of the things I’d have for dinner.
I do intermittent fasting and because I work in the evening. I eat from 2pm-10pm and fast the other 16 hours. I started intermittent fasting in May 2017. I’ve only lost 11 pounds from IF. The other 15 lbs is from a strict, high carb/low fat vegan diet which I plan to go back to, as it’s the healthiest diet in my opinion.
What did your workout routine look like?
I began by just walking on the treadmill or using the elliptical everyday for 30 minutes. I also walked around at work, during my breaks, to get my 10,000 steps in. I haven’t started weight training yet, but I plan to start soon.
Starting weight/Current weight
My heaviest weight was 270 pounds. My current weight is 244 pounds and my goal weight is 175 pounds. My height is 5’4″
What advice would you share with people who want to lose weight?
My advice for others wanting to lose weight is to keep on pushing. Even if you have days where your eat things that you feel you shouldn’t, don’t let that hinder your progress or deter you from your ultimate goal of being healthy.
