Transformation of the Day: Shanisha lost 50 pounds. One of the things that has made her successful is that she did the work to stop stress eating. She is preparing to have VSG surgery later this year, but she has made a lot of progress by working out five days a week and eating healthy meals.
I decided it was time to take my life back to get my weight under control, and I’m doing just that! I weighed in at 374.5 pounds in May, and I said no way! I have lost 50 pounds so far, and I still have a long way to go.
What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
What keeps me motivated is my kids and the fact that I’m tired of being this big. My children really keep me going. I have to be healthy to take care of my girls.
How did you change your eating habits?
I eat three meals a day, and I have 2 to 3 snacks a day.
What did your workout routine consist of? How often did you work out?
I work out five days a week. I do two days at the gym by myself, and three days with my personal trainer. Every workout consists of cardio. 2 days out of the five days, I do weight training.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was 374.5 pounds, and my current weight is 324.2 pounds. I will reach my goal of 180 pounds, and I’m not stopping until I get there!
What is your height?
I am 5’6″!
When did you start your journey? How long did your transformation take?
I started my journey on May 18, 2021. It took me three months to lose 50 pounds!
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
The biggest lesson that I have learned this far is how not to stress eat. I also learned how to eat in a healthy way (eating 3 meals and 2 to 3 snacks a day). I’m still learning every day, and I take it day by day!
What advice would you like to share with women who want to lose weight?
You have to let stress go and let go of anyone that causes you to stress. Also, the most significant part of losing weight is that you have to meal prep because trying to figure out what to eat the day of is not going to work. Always set goals and reach them, and they will keep you motivated during the weight loss journey.
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
I have not had weight loss surgery yet! I’m still waiting for my date, which probably will be in November.
