What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
My motivation was when I took a correctional officer test last year (2022). I did not pass it because my time was not fast enough. I wanted to retake the test this year, so I knew I had to be ready. (Even though it wasn’t until six months after my test that I decided to finally get serious.)
What inspired me was that I knew I did not want to be in the same place a year from now. Also, just seeing other people I knew losing weight was inspiring. I was like, “I know I can do it too.”
How did you change your eating habits?
I decided to cut back on a lot of the junk I was eating: sweets, fried food, and alcohol. I did not stop any of it completely. Instead, I decided to limit it to portion sizes that were reasonable for me.
What is your workout routine?
I love to do Insanity Max 30 two to three times a week. I also weight train 1 to 2 days a week.
I love walking, so I always try adding at least a 30-minute walk daily. It doesn’t have to be super fast, just a nice pace. My dog likes to walk, so that helped. She would be so excited when she knew we were going walking, even if it was just 30 minutes. Some days, I would do long walks on the beach for about an hour and a half. You just have to listen to your body.
How often did you work out?
I would work out 4 to 5 days a week. I would take a walk if I had free time on my off days from working out.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was 245 pounds, and my current weight is 204 pounds.
What is your height?
I am 5 ft, 6 inches tall.
When did you start your journey? How long did your transformation take?
I started in June 2023, so I am almost at the six-month mark (in about two weeks).
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
No surgery. Just hard work and consistency.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
I’ve learned it all possible. Just be consistent. Every day will not be a good day, but if you don’t quit, you will see and feel the results.
What advice do you have for women who want to lose weight?
Just be consistent. It will not happen overnight. Don’t give up and don’t over do it. Trust the process.
