Great Mommy Transformation: Shanell lost 67 pounds. After years of yo-yo dieting, she decided it was a time for a change. Some unflattering photos taken 8 months after the birth of her son were the wakeup call she needed. Check out what she shared with us about how she took action to release the weight.
Hello, my name is Shane C. I’m a loving wife and mother of 3 beautiful kids. I’ve been struggling with my weight all my life. Even as a child I have had problems. Over the years, I’ve made promises to myself about getting my life together, but time and time again I was on the so called YO-YO diet cycle. I would lose weight, gain weight and do it all over and over again. After I became pregnant with my son, I made up my mind. I decided that after I was done with nursing my son for 22 months it would be all about me and my health.
What was your motivation?
After I had my son and he was about 8 months old, we took family pictures. When I saw the photos, I knew then that I had to do something about my weight. Right after I was done nursing, I was so ashamed of myself because I had gotten up to 235 pounds. I was motivated and ready for a change. I inspired myself, because I knew that if I didn’t get this weight off I was going have a lot health problems. I knew I had to change, so I did just that that.
How did you change your eating habits?
I changed my eating habits by cooking everybody in my family the same healthy food that I was eating. By doing that, there was no room for mistakes. I started eating more raw vegetables and fruit. Also, I stopped eating processed food, fast food and cut out lots of sugar and salt.
What did your workout routines look like?
I started going to the gym, Monday-Friday. I also joined the Crossfit class at the Gym. The Cross Fit routines consist of a lot of weight training and cardio for endurance.
Starting Weight/Current Weight
My starting weight was 235 pounds. My current weight is 168 pounds. My height is 5’5″ tall.
How long did your transformation take?
4 months
What advise do you have for others who want to lose weight?
The advise I would give to other is let this Change Be A Lifestyle Change Not A Quick Fix.
