Transformation of the Day: Shana lost 84 pounds. She just wanted to get healthy and change her mindset on food. Over the course of a year, she switched to low-carb, high protein meals and made exercise a priority to get results.
My name is Shana, and I’m 51 years old. I recently reached the 1-year anniversary of my weight loss journey.
When did you start your weight loss journey?
I started my journey in September 2020.
What was your starting weight?
What is your current weight? I started at 263 pounds, and I currently weigh 179 pounds. Total weight loss: 84 pounds.
What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
My motivation to keep going was my health. I also wanted to change my mentality about food. I’m inspired when I think about how far I’ve come.
How did you change your eating habits?
I battled my weight for years, and I just got tired of the yo-yo dieting. I wanted to get healthy. So, I decided to commit to an eating plan which consisted of a low-carb, high protein diet and drinking lots of water. I stopped eating sugar and junk food and transitioned to a healthy lifestyle.
What is your workout routine?
I started being active 5-6 days a week doing Cardio Dance2Fit class and upper body strength with weights.
What is your height?
I’m 5’2″.
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
No. I achieved my success through all-natural weight loss (diet and exercise).
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
The biggest lesson I’ve learned on this journey is to always believe in yourself. Also, anything is possible, and there are no quick fixes. You have to put in the work and stay consistent.
What advice would you like to share with women who want to lose weight?
My advice for women who want to lose weight is to love themselves and believe it’s possible. You have to want it bad enough to be successful.
