Transformation of the Day: Shadonna lost 76 pounds. She wanted to take back control of her self-esteem and health. A 28 Day commitment turned into a new lifestyle she is fully committed to. Changing her eating habits and doing 30 minutes, HIIT style workouts has changed her life.
What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going when you wanted to give up?
My self-esteem was plummeting due to my size. I realized that I have control of that feeling, so I began to do a 30 minute HIIT style training program by a popular gym. I started to see changes in my body that gave me the fire to keep going!
I initially told myself that I was going to try it for 28 days, but 28 days turned to 3 months, and so on! I began to post my transformation online, and other people became inspired as well. That became more fire to keep going.
I didn’t just I look better, I felt better too. On days when I didn’t want to get moving or thought about abandoning my healthy lifestyle, I remembered the space I was in mentally before I started, and I refuse to go back there.
How did you change your eating habits?
I created a health and wellness Instagram to help with my eating habits by following more health-conscious influencers. I began to eat more whole foods and less processed foods. I’m a foodie and love to cook, so the transition became fun and allowed me to experiment with certain foods. It then became a lifestyle that was easy to adapt to.
What did your workout routine consist of? How often did you workout?
Wow, I literally went hard! I worked out 6-7 days out the week and sometimes even worked out twice a day! I don’t know how I managed, but I was determined to lose weight! I took advantage of lots of free workouts that trainers were offering, which helped tremendously because if I was by myself.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was 245 pounds, and my current weight is 169 pounds.
What is your height?
I’m about 5’5″.
When did you start your journey? How long did your transformation take?
I began my journey in August 2018. I began to see physical changes in September with a weight loss of about 20 lbs. From August 2018 to now, I have lost a total of 76 pounds.
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
No, I did not need surgery, and I don’t plan on having surgery.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned?
The biggest lesson I’ve learned is to trust myself. Believe that you can do it, and you will. Always make it a “me vs. me” thing and not “me vs. them”! Be better than you were yesterday.
What advice do you have for people who want to lose weight?
My advice is simple: Just start. It took 30 minutes a day to change the whole trajectory of my life. Stop putting it off. Your body deserves optimum health.
