My original weight was 613 pounds. I lost the first hundred pounds naturally over the course of a year period! I was on an 1800 calorie diet and worked with a trainer 4 days a week on outdoor exercises. I plateaued and maintained that weight loss for two years after. In 2016, I had Gastric Sleeve weight loss surgery. Today, I’m still striving and my goal is to lose 100 more pounds!
What was your motivation? What inspired you when you wanted to give up?
My motivation was to be healthy, stay out the hospital and keep Endometrial cancer in remission.
How did you change your eating habits?
I haven’t had beef or pork for over 10 years and I’ve eliminated fried foods totally. My eating habits changed after Weight Loss Surgery and I am on a Ketogenic Diet. That means very low carbs and high protein. The weight just melts away with a Keto diet!
What did your workout routines look like?
I workout 3 times a week, doing resistance and cardio training.
Starting weight/Current weight
My starting weight at the time of surgery was 520 pounds and my current weight is 401.5 pounds. My height is 5’6″.
When did you begin your transformation?
August 2016 (6 months)
What advice do you have for others who want to lose weight?
Never let anyone tell you it’s easy or that weight loss surgery is an easy way out! You fight just as hard and have to change your lifestyle when you chooose surgery.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned?
We have to learn to eat, so we can eat to live, not live to eat!
