Transformation of the Day: Samia lost 150+ pounds. She weighed 330 pounds at 25 years old, and the pounds were affecting her health. She decided to take action and transform her life by changing her eating habits, walking, and working with a trainer. After she lost all the weight, she had a back lift, tummy tuck, and BBL.
My entire life, I’ve been overweight. However, things started going real downhill once I hit my 20s. I weighed 330 pounds at 25 years old and had constant back pain and swollen ankles. I was extremely self-conscious about everything, and it kept me from doing things I really wanted to do.
My weight also caused me to have an abnormal menstrual cycle. I remember that I used to have a period for three months back to back. Can you imagine how annoying that is? Finally, I decided I couldn’t live like this much longer. Literally, if I didn’t change my habits, I probably wouldn’t live much longer. I had to make a change for myself.
One year and six months later, I’m happy to say I’ve lost over 150 pounds. I feel amazing, and I look even better, but this was not easy. I wanted to give up so many times. I would cry, “Why me?” Now, I scream, “Yes, me!” I am strong, and I am determined.
What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
I was motivated to lose weight because I was just tired. I was tired of not being comfortable in my skin and tired of being insecure. Every time I felt like giving up, I had to remind myself why I started in the 1st place. I had to remind myself of all the times I felt so low because I was unhappy with my body.
How did you change your eating habits?
I simply started by cutting out rice, soda, bread. Every week I would try to eliminate something that I knew wasn’t good for my body. I also did a liquid diet that I found on YouTube, which was very good. I felt full and didn’t have any major cravings.
What did your workout routine consist of? How often did you work out? When I started, I used to just walk around for 30-45 mins at the park. After about three months, I invested in a trainer. We worked out four times a week for an hour doing lots of cardio. He would have me on the bicycle and thread mill for warm-ups. I did lots of squats, ab work, and weight lifting. I also took Zumba classes.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
I started at 330 pounds. Today, I weigh 188 pounds.
What is your height?
I’m 5’5″.
When did you start your journey? How long did your transformation take?
I started my journey officially in December 2019. I say officially because I’ve tried and stopped so many times. This was the first time that I started my journey and remained consistent.
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
I had a tummy tuck, back lift, and BBL after losing the weight. I plan on going back to get an arm lift, rounded out BBL, and a breast lift.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
What I’ve learned most from my experiences is that I’m strong, I’m determined, and I’m resilient. This was not at all easy, and I did it. I did it for me.
What advice would you like to share with women who want to lose weight?
To women all around the world who are serious about losing weight, my only advice is to find your purpose. Ask yourself why you want to lose weight? Every time you feel like giving up, remind yourself of that reason and remember that you can do this.
