Hi! My name is Salithya Barnett. I’m 32 years old, and I’ve lost 96 pounds.
What is your motivation? What inspired you to keep going, even when you felt like stopping?
My motivation to lose weight was to become a more active person. Being able to look and feel good became my overall inspiration for not wanting to give up.
How did you change your eating habits?
I stopped eating pork and red meat and ate chicken, fish, and turkey instead. I also cut snacks from my diet, stopped eating unhealthy snacks, and started eating alternative healthy snacks.
What is your workout routine?
My current workout routine is an hour or more at the gym five days a week. I also try to walk 4 miles a day, and I plank for 2 minutes a day. I also stretch and just started beginner yoga.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was 298 pounds, and my current weight is 202 pounds.
What is your height? I’m 5’9″.
How long did your journey take?
I started my journey over a million times, lol. However, it took a year and a half to get to my desired weight.
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
Weight loss surgery was not a part of my journey, although I really did consider it.
What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
The biggest lesson I’ve learned so far on this journey is to be realistic about my own weight loss goals.
What advice would you like to share with women who want to lose weight?
My advice for women who want to lose weight is to…
- Take it one day at a time
- Mind over matter
- Remember why you want to lose weight.
- Do it! Do it no matter how you feel! Just do it anyway, and you’ll feel so much better afterward!
