Weight Loss Story: Rumbidzai lost 33 pounds. Our sister from Zimbabwe didn’t realize how much weight she gained. She wanted to avoid any health risks associated with being overweight. Check out how this proud mom took action to lose the pounds.
My name is Rumbidzai C and I’m from Zimbabwe. I am 28 years old and my height is 1.63m (5 foot, 3 inches). My wake up call was when I went to my doctor’s office for regular checkup. When I stepped on the scale and was so amazed to find out that I had reached 80kg (176.3 pounds). With only one baby girl, who is 4 years old, I realized I was heading somewhere very critical and unhealthy. I decided to start a new healthy life and to lose weight, so as to avoid some diseases that I’d be at risk for with continued weight gain.
I started out by giving up fast food, all starches, soft drinks and 100% juices completely. I started eating more proteins. My proteins were mostly grilled chicken, steamed fish and boiled sugar beans. Even when eating proteins, I was very particular about portion control. I would not eat more than 150 grams per serving. I also started eating more vegetables and fruit. However, I would not eat more than 3 fruits per day though. I also started drinking a lot of water, 3 liters per day.
As for exercises, I bought a mini stepper that I would do exercises at home following YouTube videos made up of mostly HIIT exercises . The videos range from 30 -40 minutes and I do them 5 days a week in the evenings.
Currently, I weigh 65kg (143.3lb). I’ve lost 15kg (33 pounds) and I am striving to reach 60kg (132 pounds) by December 2016. I used to be a UK size 14-16, but now I am a UK size 10.
I hope my story will pick someone up who is trying to lose weight. It is not an easy journey but the results are worth it at the end.
My advice to others is to be consistent and develop self discipline. Consistence brings results. Take everyday as a new challenge. We can do it ladies.
