Transformation of the Day: Royalyn lost 53 pounds. She was tired of getting out of breath doing simple tasks, and she didn’t want to be the “big girl” anymore. When she got the news that she was borderline for diabetes, that was her wake-up call. By working with a fitness coach, she was able to commit to a fitness routine and healthy eating regimen.
What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up? My motivation for losing weight comes from the fact that I didn’t want to be a big girl anymore. I wanted to feel better. It’s not fun being out of breath while doing simple tasks.
I also got the news that I was borderline diabetic, which was not going to work for me. Losing weight has been the best thing and the hardest thing I have done for myself in a long time. To keep myself motivated, I look at how far I have come and how I can do things with my fitness coach, @shefitfitness, that I could not previously do.
How did you change your eating habits? I changed my eating habits by cutting sugar and reducing carbs to one meal a day. I got a plan from a fitness coach, and I followed it. Reducing the amount of processed foods I eat has been very beneficial on my journey.
What did your workout routine consist of? How often did you work out? My workout routine consists of a mix of cardio, weight training, abs work, and walking five times a week.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight? My starting weight was 311 pounds, and now my weight is 258 pounds. I’ve lost 53 pounds.
What is your height? I am 5’7″.
When did you start your journey? How long did your transformation take? I started my journey in December 2020, and it has taken me six months to get here.
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey? No, I have not had any kind of weight loss surgery. I wish I could say that I have not wanted to in the past, but I have. Now that I have my coach and my routines in place, I do not desire surgery of any kind.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far? Even though I am at the beginning of my journey and have not reached my desired weight, I have learned it’s not easy, and it’s not quick, but it is worth it.
What advice do you have for women who want to lose weight? I would tell anyone who is starting their journey to stay consistent, stay focused, and put in the work. You will see results.
