Transformation of the Day: Robyn has gone from a size 16 to a size 12. She was suffering from knee pain and a rare form of Vertigo, but since she changed her lifestyle, her health has improved significantly. Weightlifting and Keto work for her. Check out her story.
What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going when you wanted to give up?
I am motivated by feeling and looking good! I started to have so much more energy as I began to better and work out. I was suffering from knee
pain and a rare form of Vertigo. Now, I’m pretty much pain-free and rarely
experience Vertigo!
I saw my body change fairly quickly, so what motivated me not to give up was taking progress pictures and taking my measurements. I focus on those two things to see my progress.
How did you change your eating habits?
I started the Keto diet in March 2019. I saw my body change fairly quickly
in the beginning, so that was motivating. I cut back on carbs somewhat
extremely, and it was difficult for the first week.
I turned to a friend who has been on Keto for years. I basically knew what to expect after talking to her. The first 2 to 3 weeks are challenging, but after that, I started to feel amazing. I had so much energy. I didn’t feel sick all the time. It was wonderful!
I don’t use an eating plan per se. I eat intuitively, but I do keep my carbs down. I don’t count them, but I use things like low-carb tortillas. Also, I don’t eat high carbohydrate foods, like starches. I eat mostly meat, dairy, and vegetables, with a few berries here and there. I have found that Keto is something that I can maintain long term. That is something I’ve never experienced that with any other eating plan that I’ve ever done.

What did your workout routine consist of?
In the beginning, I didn’t work out at all (I would say for the first month
or so). After that, I started to work out 3 to 4 days a week before work for about an hour a day. Currently, because I’m a teacher on summer
break, I am working out five days a week for an hour and a half to two hours per day. For the most part, I lift heavier weights, and I do supersets. I
also do sprinting when I do cardio, but the majority of my workouts are
weightlifting.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
It’s crazy, but I actually don’t weigh myself. I find it to be misleading and discouraging because weight fluctuates so much! I focus on my measurements and my progress pictures versus my weight. I’ve lost three inches in my waist. In terms of clothing sizes, I went from a size 16 to currently a size 12. I’ve also gone from an XL to a Medium/Large. Because I lift heavy weights, I have gained muscle and lost fat resulting in awesome changes in my body!
What is your height?
5’4″
How long did your transformation take?
When I started my journey in March of this year, I began to see changes within the first two weeks. I have been working out often and eating Keto since March, so it’s been about four months.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned?
The biggest lesson I learned is that I can control my weight and my fitness if I put my mind to it. I’ve also learned lots of little tricks and strategies to stay in the game mentally.
What advice do you have for people who want to lose weight?
My advice is that it starts in your mind. You have to take control of your thoughts to get control of your eating habits and your fitness!
