Transformation of the Day: Ridgana lost 57 pounds. She found her motivation when she reached her highest weight last fall. Wanting to avoid the health issues that have affected her family, she decided to make a change by embracing healthy eating habits and working out at a local gym. Check out her story.
In the Fall of 2018, I hit my highest known weight of 240 pounds! I was always “the bigger friend/cousin,” but this was the biggest I’d been in all my life. I thought the dryer was shrinking my clothes. However, after seeing the number on the scale, I was determined to make a change, especially considering the health issues that have affected my family.
I knew that regular gyms were boring to me, so I joined a Bootcamp/Kickboxing gym near my house and worked out there 3-4 times a week. I went from eating any and everything to always making sure I had vegetables in every meal. I also ate minimally processed foods and tracked everything that went into my mouth, even if it was just a piece of gum. Once I started seeing the results, I became addicted to my new lifestyle and knew I didn’t want to go back to how I was living before.
Currently, I’m down 57 pounds, and I weigh 183 pounds. (My height is 5’4″.) Even though I want to lose more weight, the goal is to be healthy, happy, and confident.
The biggest lesson I learned so far is to appreciate each step of the journey and never take it for granted! I appreciate each pound and inch lost because even though I’m not where I want to be, I’m not where I used to be, so I continue to push.
My advice for everyone who wants to lose weight is to take it day by day and to PLAN, whether it’s your workouts or what you’re going to eat. Also, be accepting of failure but never STAY in failure.
Most importantly, this journey is not a sprint; it’s a marathon! You just have to keep pushing and keep going! Do not hold yourself back! Enjoy the journey. The results will come if you don’t give up!
