Transformation of the Day: Rhonda lost 78 pounds and several dress sizes. When she realized that her health was spiraling in the wrong direction, she decided to change her life. Intermittent fasting and walking are two of the tools she used to transform.
What was your motivation?
I decided to lose weight because of the various medical conditions I was faced with and being on several different medications. I saw myself spiraling out of control with my weight, and my health was only getting worse. I knew if I didn’t make a change, there was a possibility that I would no longer be here. Just that thought alone made me realize I had to make a change.
How did you change your eating habits?
I stopped drinking sodas. It’s been three years since I’ve had one. I also do 16-18 hour intermittent fasting daily (eating once daily). At first, doing away with chips and candy was very hard, but I slowly started winging myself off.
What is your workout routine?
I go to the gym, I walk daily, and I do intermittent fasting – those have been the things that have helped me.
When did you begin your weight loss journey?
I started my journey about two years ago, but I’ve been working really hard at it during the second year.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
I started at 278 pounds. Now I’m down to 200 pounds – 78 pounds lost. I used to wear a size 22, and now I’m down to a size 8/10. (Size 10 is running a little big in some of my outfits.)
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
I have not had any weight loss surgery done. Every pound that I’ve lost has been through my hard work and consistency.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
I’ve learned you have to stay the course no matter what it looks like. You can’t give up.
What advice would you like to share with women who want to lose weight?
There is something greater on the other side of your journey, which is life and happiness with yourself, knowing that you decided to lose the weight.
