Transformation Tuesday Awesomeness: Renée lost 51 pounds. She was newlywed and recently diagnosed with sleep apnea at the start of her journey. Being prescribed a CPAP machine to help her breathe overnight was her wakeup call. She and her hubby embraced clean eating and she worked out hard to get results. Check out what she shared with about her journey.
My journey started on May 15, 2015. I had been recently diagnosed with sleep apnea and prescribed a CPAP machine to breathe. I was still a newlywed and the idea of sleeping in that mask was unsexy! I woke up that morning with a horrible migraine that lasted half of the day and decided my body needed a detox.
My husband and I went to the grocery store and bought every fruit and veggie we could think of. My goal at first was to eat clean. I focused on only eating things from the earth, no processed foods. I increased my water to 120 ounces each day. After about 2 weeks of these dietary changes, I added physical movement.
When I first started exercising, my goal was just to be consistent, even if it was only for 20 minutes. I had to workout at least 6 days each week. By the end of the 6 weeks, I’d lost 17 lbs. Over time, my endurance got better and I averaged 60-90 minutes each day. I have since added weight training, hip hop dance, Zumba, HIIT workouts, and Tabata. I change my workouts regularly to keep from getting bored.
I started this journey at 291 pounds and today I weigh 240 (I feel smaller though, so I think it’s the heavy weight lifting!). My ultimate goal is to lose 60 more pounds before the end of 2016! Oh, and I no longer need that unsexy CPAP machine!. Yeahh!
My advice for anyone looking to get healthier is just to start. The first thing I would suggest is increasing your water intake. That makes you crave sugar less and keeps you hydrated. Many times, we mistake being thirsty for hunger. Next, focus on cleaning up your diet. 80% of losing weight is what we eat. Lastly, lift weights! Heavy weight lifting will not make you bulky, it actually makes your body look tighter and leaner!
