Renee lost 49 pounds. This mother of four used intermittent fasting and exercise to transform. She was dealing with high blood pressure and pre-diabetes and realized she was neglecting her health. She truly committed to a lifestyle change.
My name is Renee, and I am a 39-year-old mother of 4. I had been struggling with my weight for the last 15 years after the birth of my daughter. It’s gone up and down and up and down. Last June, I was at my heaviest at 239 pounds. I was pre-diabetic, and my blood pressure was high. I was neglecting my health and decided to make a change.
I decided to get more active and lose weight before my 40th birthday this October, and I am on my way there. I lost weight by intermittently fasting, being mindful of what I eat, and working out four days a week in the gym. The left side of my before/after pic is from the last time I wore this dress and the right side is me trying on the dress for the first time in years. It was an amazing feeling fitting into this dress again.
How did you change your eating habits? I stopped eating bread, pasta, and most carb-heavy foods. I mostly eat salads with fish or chicken. I also increased my water intake and try my best to cut out sugar. My intermittent schedule is usually 10:30 am – 6:30 pm. I will drink water or green tea after and nothing else while fasting.
What did your workout routine consist of? I do cardio and weight training five days a week for an hour. I also ride my bike and do pole dancing.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
Starting weight: 239 pounds
Current weight: 190 pounds
What is your height? I’m 5’4″.
When did you start your journey? How long did your transformation take? I started last June, and it took approx eight months and counting.
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey? No, I didn’t have surgery.
What are the biggest lessons you’ve learned so far? I learned to be patient and consistent. I also learned to listen to my body when it’s in pain. When I eat things that aren’t good for me and the reaction my body gives to those foods
What advice would you like to share with women who want to lose weight? Don’t get discouraged if you don’t see results right away. Stay consistent, and the results will come.
Love yourself at every step of the journey. Don’t beat yourself up and give up if you mess up. Just regroup and get back on the ball. You got this!
