Weight Loss Story of the Day: Regina lost 111 pounds with weight loss surgery after years of yo-yo dieting. She decided that Gastric Bypass was the best option for her and too control of her weight. Here is what she shared with us…
Hi, My name is Regina Willis and here is my story. My entire adult life I have been overweight. I have tried time and time again and used every fad diet out there. At my heaviest, I weighed 330 pounds and it was a struggle to workout but I did. I walked, bought a Treadmill and joined Medical Weight Loss. I lost 30-40 lbs and gained it back.
I lost My mother and 24 year old sister to diabetes and I refused to end up sick or dead, so in 2012 I decided to have Gastric Bypass weight loss surgery. I had the hardest time getting approved because I was in perfect health. “Wow”, you say. No, I didn’t have high blood pressure, diabetes or heart issues, After a long fight, I finally got the approval and almost 2 years later and over 100 pounds lighter I’m still maintaining my weight loss. I would like to lose 60 more lbs and I will keep you all updated on my progress.
I changed my eating habits by eliminating fast foods, less sugars and white breads. I also cook more chicken turkey. I work out 3-4 times a week and recently started using weights. My starting weight was 330 and my current weight is 219 pounds (I’m 5’8″).
My advice for anyone trying to lose weight is to do research on all diets or surgeries. I struggled for years with yo-yo diet fads and one day I just made the choice that was best for me and you should do the same. It’s your life and you only get one.

Congrats on your success on the journey to weight loss via surgery. I myself have just started my own choice to have the sleeve gastric bypass surgery. Now what I am finding my challenges are the stringent eating restrictions imposed in order for me to first reach the surgeons allotted goal for me so to be considered a “serious” candidate for this process. Basically if I don’t stop piggin out the doctor fears that the surgery won’t work and will thus be a waste of time. Hers and mine bcuz if I don’t learn how to change how to eat healthier, then I’ll be on this merrygoround I’ve been on all of my life. So of course I fell way off during the holidays. Giving myself permission to do so bcuz this would be my last free for all time to do it. Anyway, here I go again. Prepared to get my ass handed to me by the entire gastric bypass department. Its cool bcuz is all for the good. Pray for me and again go girl!
