Transformation of the Day: Rebecca lost 93 pounds. This proud mom saw her weight increasing as she used food to cope and to celebrate. She was eating 3000 calories per day on average, causing lots of weight gain. By cutting out the junk food, counting calories and going vegetarian, she was able to lose 80 of those pounds without regular exercise. Check out her story.
I began gaining weight during puberty. I weighed my heaviest last year at a staggering 248 pounds. I used food to cope, celebrate and just because. I ate on average 3000 calories a day! I loved snacks, fried foods and soda. It was not until last year that I became sick and tired of being sick and tired.
During times when I wanted to give up, my faith that I could do all things through Christ kept me strong. It was also my son and the desire to exemplify a healthy lifestyle for him that kept me motivated
I changed my diet. I eliminated meat, cut out soda and became vegetarian. When I stopped drinking soda, I replaced it with flavored water and eventually alkaline water by Essential. When I craved junk food, I’d eat fruit instead. Cotton candy grapes are my fav! When I first started my journey, I restricted my daily caloric intake to 1200 calories. I did not meal plan or do any carb cycling. However, I used My Fitness Pal to track my food intake and it has become my mini best friend.
I lost 80 pounds before I incorporated exercise. I am proof that weight loss is 80% diet. Here I am today almost 100 pounds lighter and it’s all because I changed my mindset. My starting weight was 248 pounds and my current weight is 155 pounds. I am 5’7″ and I began my journey in May of 2015. I hit 155 pounds in April of 2016.
I’m not where I want to be entirely, but I have just begun exercising on a regular basis and can’t wait to see my body transform even more. I go to the gym 5 days a week for two hours. I spend most of my time using the weight machines because I’m focusing on toning my body and strength training. Mondays and Wednesdays, I focus on arms. Tuesdays and Thursdays, I focus on legs. On Fridays, I do cardio for an hour and chest, back, and shoulders. I also work my abs at least three days a week.
To anyone who wants to lose weight: You can do it! Your journey will be difficult but you can do it. Get a clear vision as to where you want to be and put in the work!
