Transformation of the Day: Raven lost 61 pounds after giving birth to her son. PCOS, endometriosis, and postpartum diastasis recti could not stop this RN and future Midwife from striving to be the best version of herself, physically and mentally. She worked with a health coach because she wanted to make sure that her transformation journey didn’t affect her milk supply. Check out her story.
What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
My motivation has always been my kid. The first time I lost weight, it was because I was believing for healing from PCOS because I wanted to be able to conceive. This time around, it happened because I want to be my best version of myself, physically and mentally, while mothering.
Whenever I want to give up, I think about how far I have come. I can’t give up. Me giving up means going back to low self-esteem, depression, anxiety, and painful cycles. I know what joy is now, and I can’t lose that.
How did you change your eating habits?
I changed my eating habits from a high carb vegan eating style to eating high protein, moderate carbs, and healthy fats! I actually had to start eating more food to lose weight, Lol! All of my nutrition coaching came from my health coach, Christina of Journey 2 Motherhood Fitness. I started my journey (the second time) as a postpartum mom, and while breastfeeding, so I wanted to be sure that what I did didn’t affect my milk supply at all.
What did your workout routine consist of?
I currently workout 4-5 times a week. I do cardio, strength, and I have a yoga day to regroup. Because I am a full-time SAHM with no gym membership, all of my workouts are done at HOME! When it was warmer, I would go outside and do cardio by pushing the stroller around my complex – up and down the hills. I’ve even taken my dumbbells and kettlebells outside and let my kid run around in the grass while I did virtual training. Now that it’s cooler and raining more, I work out inside with my toddler running around in the background or strapped in my baby carrier. #ByAnyMeansNecessary
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
The day I delivered my son, I weighed 260 pounds, and I currently weigh 199 pounds.
What is your height?
I am 5’4″.
When did you start your journey?
I started in July 2019.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned?
The biggest lesson that I’ve learned so far is that “I am magical, and I can do ANYTHING I put my mind too!” Me, a woman diagnosed with PCOS, endometriosis, and diastasis recti (postpartum). I’ve been able to lose and maintain this weight loss with no pills, no shakes, and no wraps: just hard work and determination.
What advice do you have for women who want to lose weight?
Believe you are worth it and go for it!” Sis, you are VALUABLE, and you deserve to feel your best. It’s not about the number on the scale, but it’s about the way you feel. You deserve to wake up feeling AMAZING about YOU! I’m rooting for you.
