Transformation of the Day: Raquel lost 50 pounds. This petite mom, wife and avid runner released not just physical weight, but also emotional and mental weight. Through healthy eating and gradually building up to running regularly, she transformed her body and her lifestyle. She told us that weight is not the issue, but instead just a result of the real issue and that we have to find out what that real issue is. Check out her story.
I want to share my story to help inspire people to never give up and to always be encouraged! In 2012, I had reached my heaviest weight of all time, both physically and spiritually. I weighed 175 pounds at 5’3″. I was an emotional wreck and ate as a result of it. Slowly, I started going to the gym and using the elliptical machine for about 30 minutes each day for a month. Gradually that 30 minutes turned into an hour. Then, one day I got on the treadmill and slowly jogged. Miles later, I’m proud to be maintaining a healthy weight of 125 pounds and running 15-20 miles a week. Running has become my therapy and has done my body good! I’m 38 years old and I’m definitely in the best shape of my life!
Inspiration: What inspired and continues to inspire me to keep going is the theory that we have the ability to change any circumstance; Physically, mentally, and emotionally. All of my weight gain came from overeating due to stress, aniexty, and depression. Once I figured out that I could do something on my own; I just kept going.
Eating Habits: My eating habits have changed drastically. It is important to me to plan each meal. I have to have a plan. I no longer eat processed foods or anything that has more than 3 ingredients in it. I eat tons of fruit, veggies and lean proteins.
Time Frame: My transformation began in late 2012 and it is something that will never end. It took me about 1 year total to develop strong eating habits and get to the size and weight that I am comfortable with. I have been maintaining the same weight for the past 2 years now.
Advice: My advice to others who are seeking weight loss, is that the weight is not the issue. The weight is a result of the issue. Find out why and how you got there. Be honest with yourself, even if it’s scary. Finally, do something. I run, because I love it and it lets me know I’m in control. Your body needs movement and motion to endure, so do something. Walk, swim, cycle, dance… just do something.
I have a passion for people and for the ongoing mission to identify one’s best self. Because of this and because running has truly become a vital part of my life, in 2014 I launched my company. Everything Human, Inc. is a brand and identity development, consulting, and market management company. A division within the company is I RUN YORK. Since I live in York, PA and literally run everywhere in my town, I wanted to wear clothing/running gear that let everybody know that. I RUN YORK is an online boutique the offers customized running gear for women. Any item that is showcased can be customized to the purchasers hometown.
