Weight Loss Journey of the Day: Raniyah lost 60 pounds. This recent grad worked out, switched to a pescatarian lifestyle and started juicing to lose the weight. She wants to inspire young women to get healthy. Here is what she shared with us about losing the pounds:
“Hello! I wanted to share my photos and weight loss story to help inspire some of the younger viewers. Graduating college is suppose to be one of the happiest and proudest moments of your life. A time to look back and smile about your accomplishments. For me, this feeling was overshadowed every time I looked at my graduation photos. All I could see was how big and unhealthy I looked and had become. After undergrad, I began studying for my MA in Higher Education and Student Affairs. This time I vowed that when I looked at my graduation photos, I would love everything I saw-from my appearance to my accomplishment of receiving a masters. This became my motivation. So far I have went from weighing 220 pounds and wearing a size 16/18, to 160 pounds and wearing a size 8/10. I’ve dropped over 60 pounds total. I quit eating fast food and processed juice or soda. In their spot, I began to cook every night, adapting a pescatarian lifestyle. I also embraced juicing for my breakfast and sometimes lunch. I began running 3 miles three times a week, and kickboxing twice a week. My Fitness Pal has been a tremendous help keeping me on track with my goals. I am still not yet where I want to be, but I thank God, my family, and friends for their support because I am not where I use to be.”
