Transformation of the Day: R’achell lost 59 pounds. Switching to a plant-based lifestyle gave her relief from GI issues, like heartburn and bloating. During her two year journey, she also worked out at home and practiced meal prepping to get these awesome results.
When you focus on the task at hand, everything becomes easier! The key is Healthy Eating and Exercise! Transitioning to a Vegan lifestyle has truly been an amazing journey for the past two years! I’m so proud of the woman that I’ve become on the inside and out! I’m 59 pounds lighter and still going strong! Black, Beautiful, and Vegan!
What was your motivation? How did you change your eating habits?
My journey started with current fatigue and GI issues, such as suffering heartburn and bloating. I decided to take a step back from meat in 2018 for six weeks. The change in my GI tract was remarkable. Also, I no longer felt tired and sluggish.
The vegetarian approach became easier to maintain, and I didn’t have as many craving for meat around the second month. I cut out all dairy after the 4th month, which eliminated a lot of my gas and bloating.
Now I’m Vegan, which means my diet is plant-based only and consists of veggies and fruits. Much of my protein comes from vegetables, meat supplements, tofu, rice, beans, and lentils.
What does your workout routine consist of?
My daily workout routine is 5-7 mile jogs twice a week and at-home cardio exercise videos three days a week.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was 229 pounds, and I currently weigh 170 pounds.
What is your height?
My height is 5’5″.
How long did your transformation take?
I lost 35 pounds within the first six months and a total of 50 pounds within one year of this plant-based diet. I’m down 59-60 pounds.
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
No surgery required. Just plants!
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
The biggest lesson I’ve learned from all of this is that perseverance is the key to weight loss. Also, Don’t worry about people who say you need protein. You can still get enough protein while enjoying the plant-based lifestyle you love.
What advice would you like to share with women who want to lose weight?
Never give up on your goals. Continue the same regimen of calories week to week. Also, meal prep is very important when you are starting a meatless diet.
