Transformation of the Day: Rachel lost 90 pounds/41kg by switching to a lower-carb, high protein diet and working out six days a week. She wanted to prove that food was not in control, so she changed her mindset around food.
When did you start your journey?
I started my journey in June 2018, and I’m still on my journey. It has not ended yet.
What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going?
I had enough of wishing away the pounds. I knew that I have so much more to offer. MY biggest motivation was proving to myself that food was not my MASTER. I drew my inspiration from what my life could be and how I would feel when I became healthy again.
How did you change your eating habits?
For me, this is an ongoing process, a lifetime change. When I started my weight loss journey, I had to deprogram my mind and the way I viewed food. The hardest part for me is to differentiating whether I am actually hungry or bored.
What foods did you stop or start eating?
In the beginning, I cut out carbs for three months straight! It’s the hardest thing I had to do, LOL. I practiced intermittent fasting and ate one meal a day. [OMAD]
Did you use a specific plan or program?
No, not really. I just adopted a high protein, low carb diet.
What did your workout routine consist of?
I got myself a personal trainer. Most of the workouts I did with my trainer were high intensity mixed with weight training.
How often did you workout?
Six days a week! I walked for 1 hour every day!
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
I started at a whopping 127.5kg/281 pounds. My weight in December 2019 was 84.9kg/187 pounds, and my current weight is 86.5kg/190.6 pounds.
What is your height?
5ft, 3in
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
No surgery. My weight loss was achieved naturally.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned?
Everything you sow, you will reap, so sow good seeds. Take care of yourself.
What advice do you have for others who want to lose weight?
There is no magic pill. HARD work pays off, and CONSISTENCY is the KEY to SUCCESS. Don’t give up!
