Transformation of the Day: Quintina lost 65 pounds by making better food choices. Her blood pressure numbers were on the rise along with the numbers on her scale. She decided to get healthy for her son, and she credits her fiancée for keeping her inspired.
When did you start your weight loss journey?
Last year in January, I weighed 184 pounds, which I maintained for about seven months. Then, I got back up to 200 pounds in August.
I started using Herbalife in August, but I stopped in October because it was getting expensive. I decided to used protein shakes from Walmart instead. I also just cut back on what I ate.
What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going, even when you felt like giving up?
My motivation was getting myself healthy for my son. My blood pressure was moving up, and that’s wasn’t cool. What inspired me when I wanted to give up? My fiancée.
Tell us more about how you changed your eating habits.
I had already stopped drinking soda, but I started drinking more water. I cut out sugar because that was my biggest challenge. I love sweets, and I knew I had to give up sweets to lose weight.
I cut back on my eating in general. I still love my chips and stuff, but I just cut back on those things. Now, I eat more veggies and fruits than before. I eat more raw vegetables, and I’m planning out healthy meals.
Tell us about your workout routine.
I really just walk for over a mile almost every day. When the weather got cold, I didn’t do anything exercise-wise. I just watched what I ate and still managed to lose weight.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
I weighed 220 pounds last year, and now I weigh 155 pounds. I’m SO happy about that accomplishment. Go ME!
What is your height?
I’m 5 feet tall.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
The biggest lesson I’ve learned: Don’t rush the process. You will get there in due time. I also learned to keep the faith.
What advice would you like to share?
You will have good and bad days but never give up. Keep going.
