Transformation of the Day: Preneice went from a size 22/24 to a size 14. She doesn’t determine her weight loss via the scale any more, but uses clothing sizes instead. Not only has she changed her eating habits and made regular exercise part of her daily life, she is encouraging and helping others to lose the weight as well. Check out her journey.
My name is Preneice and I am a Fitness Enthusiast. I have been eating clean and working out on a consistent basis for 11 months now. My goal was too lose weight by the first day of Summer 2016.
I do not weigh myself. Instead, I determine my weight loss by how I look and by how my clothes fit. I used to wear a size 22/24, and now am wearing a size 14. I have also gained a lot of muscle mass during my weight loss journey. My height is 5’9″.
What was your motivation?
My Motivation to lose weight, to get fit was and to maintain my health. A physician told me in 2009 that I needed to lose weight in order to reverse Sleep Apnea.
My inspiration during challenging times is my mother and the Fitness Accountability group that I started July of 2015. With the group, I hold myself and members accountable for clean eating, water intake and consistent exercise. I was always an AVID Exerciser. I used to walk from the health club (over 11 miles) after a Step Aerobics class. I would do one Hour on the stair climber, and one hour of strength training. My challenge was eating healthy on a consistent basis.
How did you change your eating habits?
I stopped eating one big dinner at night and then going to sleep. I started to incorporate 5 small meals a day into my routine. I began to drink at least 84 ounces of water a day, and exercising 5 days a week.
I focus on eating healthy food 6 days a week, as friday is my food cheat day, I stopped eating processed foods; for example, anything that is sold in a box. I also stopped eating red meat, pork, and white foods. I also cut out white rice, white sugar, white flour. In addition, I halted eating refined foods and foods that have been processed that are no longer in their natural state. I drink Matcha Green Tea, which is a tea that is grown in Japan, as an energy source. In this drink, I add freshly squeezed lemon and raw honey; all for their plentiful health benefits.
I began to eat more rooted green vegetables; vegetables that are grown from the ground. Also, I have incorporated selected fruits, as some of these are high in sugar content as well. When it comes to putting together dishes, my creativity has soared tremendously. I experiment with different dishes as to not allow myself to revert to unhealthy eating habits.
What did your workout routines look like?
I like to workout for at least 2 hours each time I go to the health club. I have increased my workout routine from 4 days a week to 5 days a week. Sometimes I do one hour of high intensity Step Aerobics, then 20 miles on the Spin Bike and then sculpting. This includes toning my arms and back, and building and leg and gluteus muscles.
Most times, I do one hour on the elliptical machine, 20 Miles on the Spin Bike and one hour of Sculpting.
I have so much energy, that I actually ride the bike in the Spin Class Room while listening to my bling-ed out headphones and lead my own “self-taught” class! Lol. For the last 2 weeks, I have included Yoga once a week for flexibility and relaxation purposes.
What advice do you have for others who want to lose weight?
I urge anyone wanting to lose weight and/or get fit to seek your higher power for Guidance and Support. I call my higher power God. Whatever you may call your higher entity, PLEASE be certain that with it, you can do ALL things. I also suggest that you pursue a support group and or individual who will help to motivate you in times of need. No individual is an island. We ALL were created to be our best self. Do not settle for less than your best!
I am a Motivational Speaker, pursuing my Master’s Degree in Biotechnology. I am also Vice President of Public Relations and Marketing for Toastmasters International.
