Update Oct 2020: Paulette reached out to share that she is down 58 pounds/26kg.
I weigh 68kg now. I started at 94kg. I’ve lost 58 pounds and it has been a year+ since I started my journey. This is now a lifestyle for me of continuous healthy diet decisions and exercise. I hope to keep making more progress and empowering black women to be the best version of themselves.
Paulette lost 53 pounds/24kg. In the past, consistency was an issue for her, but this time she decided to commit fully to a new, healthy lifestyle. Our Nigerian sista shared with us how she used healthier eating habits and exercise to release the weight.
What was your motivation?
My biggest motivation was me because I was not as consistent with my decisions to lose weight in the past. This time it was different. I felt that since others could do it, I could too.
What inspired you to keep going, even when you felt like giving up?
When I started this journey, I had so much body pain that I wanted to give up, but the numbers dropping on my scale pushed me to keep going.
How did you change your eating habits?
It was hard to change my eating habits because I loved junk. I had to learn to like healthy foods, so I changed my tastes. Drinks did not excite me anymore. I cut down on snacks a lot, and I found out that I can do without them.
Tell us about your workout routine.
I was my own trainer. My workout routine consisted of mostly mat exercises and cardio. I exercised in the morning and evening, every day of the week.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was 94kg/207.2 pounds. I currently weigh 70kg/153.3 pounds.
When did you start your weight loss journey? How long did your transformation take?
I started my journey in September 2019, and my transformation took seven months. I did not use any surgery or quick hacks.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
My biggest lesson is that wishing won’t get you anywhere.
What advice would you like to share?
Stop wishing and start doing the work. Be consistent and determined. You can reach your goal.
