Transformation of the Day: Patricia lost 81 pounds. Her wakeup call came when a walk to the top of Stone Mountain proved very challenging. Paying much more attention to what she put into her body and working out five days a week paid off big. Check out her journey.
What was your motivation?
What motivated me was trying to reach the top of Stone Mountain, which is a popular park in Georgia. It was very challenging, and I had to stop often. I knew then that I needed to take control of my life and become healthier.
How did you change your eating habits?
As far as eating, I paid more attention to what I was eating. I ate more solid foods, such as meat, vegetables, and fruit. I stopped drinking juice and sodas. Instead, I focused more on drinking water, which really helped a lot.
Tell us about your workout routine.
Since I’ve started my weight loss journey in June 2018, I have stayed consistent with working out five days a week. I do cardio three days a week, and I do strength training two days a week.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was 280 pounds, and I currently weigh 199.2 pounds. My height is 5’5 1/2″.
How long did your transformation take?
This June marks a full year since I started losing weight.
Was weight loss surgery part of your journey?
No, weight loss surgery was not part of my process.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
While on this journey, I have learned that you have to strengthen your mind as well as your body. “Mind over matter.”
What advice would you like to share about weight loss?
Some advice that I would give to people who are looking to lose weight: “LOVE YOURSELF” throughout the entire process. Accept and appreciate small accomplishments. Some progress is better than no progress.
