Weight Loss Journey: Parry lost 67 pounds. She is a wife, author, mom of 3 and grandmother of 5 who recently celebrated her 64th birthday. Check out what she shared with us about how she’s losing the weight.
Having every joint in my body hurt wasn’t enough to get me to make a change. Having to lean on my husband just to walk just a short distance or go get into the car while I waited at the curb didn’t do it for me either. Seeing myself in vacation photos in July 2015 and having my friend show me a picture of her 83-year-old mother after she’d shed seventy-five pounds were my final straw moments.
My daughter had been a member of a weight loss program, Wedointhis, for three months and lost twenty plus pounds. I saw that she ate really good stuff, so I decided on July 17, 2015 at 371.4 pounds, that TODAY is THE day. I had no expectations, as I’d never been successful before. The journey began and I’ve learned that a carb and sugar junkie CAN live without carbs and sugar. It wasn’t gradual, but instead cold turkey with a two-week detox. Although it took months for the cravings to stop, I haven’t wavered (with very few exceptions).
Every morning, I consume a proprietary combination of vitamins and supplements, hemp seeds and a veggie smoothie. Lunch is an abundance of green veggies and the remainder of my smoothie with a small portion of protein. Dinner is my favorite meal and I’ve learned to be very creative with my greens and cauliflower (the magic vegetable) that I eat with a medium portion of protein. Healthy oils are also a major part of my diet. I drink about 100oz of water per day (which includes decaffeinated green tea and coffee). When I’m out for social occasions, I have club soda.
As of Feb 22, on the eve of my 64th birthday, I currently weigh 304.4 pounds. I just tried on a size 18 and it fits! I haven’t been a size 18 in 40 years. That’s nowhere near where I know I will be. I haven’t introduced a workout into my routine yet, though I plan to do that very soon, starting with walking and exercises to get my arm “wings” under control.
I encourage ladies in the struggle, which is oh so real, to find the plan that works for you. A plan that you can live with for the rest of your life, because there is no quick fix. Do what you CAN do and don’t focus on what you can’t.
