Weight Loss Transformation of the Day: Nyanewel lost 61 pounds. After being told that she was obese and at risk for diabetes, she was determined to focus on her health. She is now happy to say that she has beat obesity. Here is what she shared with us about her journey…
At 19 years old, being told that I’m clinically obese and on the road to Type 2 Diabetes isn’t what I was expecting to hear at my doctors appointment. That was the day I decided to take control of my health. Even though it took me forever and a day to initially start losing weight due to my false sense of perception, I knew I had to trust the process, remain consistently determined and focus on the goal ahead.
I gave away my scale because I’d continuously obsess over the numbers displayed and become very frustrated when I didn’t see any changes on the screen. Little did I know that my body was actually changing as inches were coming off and clothes were becoming loose! Continuing on with the mindset of success and the image of the girl that I saw myself becoming has lead me to shed a total of 61lbs (4st 3lbs)!! My starting weight was 17stone 2pounds (240lbs) and now I weigh 12stone 11ponds (179lbs). It took me a total of 8 months of intense workouts and a clean diet to get to where I am today.
I decided to ensure that my plate was always colorful with am array of vegetables. I also incorporated the weight management product Benevita into my diet. I cut out all forms of processed carbs, e.g white pasta, white bread, etc., and switched to whole grain carbs. I also made a one 1litre nutritious smoothie that I’d consume each day that consisted of fruits and vegetables.
Initially, I began waking up at 4am every single day and going for a 5km jog around my local park. I then decided to join the gym and step up my game! I did this by going to a workout class at least 6 times a week. I’d attend Yoga, Insanity, Body Combat, Boxercise, Body Pump, Funkalates and Spin Class. The classes were 1 hour and I’d most definitely work up a sweat! I them would spend a
further 30 mins weight training. Lifting heavy weights has helped to sculpt and tone my body so I’d definitely encourage women to pick up heavier weights and challenge themselves.
I know all too well the feeling of quitting and starting, quitting and starting and it doesn’t feel great. I hated having to restart because it made the journey feel like a chore. Once you change you mindset and understand that you’re changing your lifestyle in order to become healthier and live a long, happy life, everything WILL work out for the best. Once you see changes in your body and how you feel about yourself, that’ll fuel your desire and motivate you to continue pushing forward and striving for success! Sooner than later, you’ll have reached your goal and the feeling will be indescribable! Remain consistently committed and determined and great things will happen, just you wait and see!
I now know the true meaning behind self love, self acceptance and self worth. Even though I’m not yet at the finish line, I’m so far from where I started that I couldn’t be happier! I’ve come a very long way and I’m so proud to proclaim that I HAVE BEATEN OBESITY!! 💪☺️
