Transformation of the Day: Nita lost 139 pounds by working out and eating lots of healthy food. Today is her birthday, and we are celebrating her remarkable transformation. Her weight gain was connected to childhood traumas, medical complications, and not caring if she lived or died. She made the choice to live and thrive.
I have been overweight my entire life, due to past childhood traumas, medical complications, and simply not caring if I lived or died. A year and a half ago, I decided that I wanted to live and that my life mattered. I have a choice to live in trauma or to use this trauma to gain my life back. So, I took my life back!
Honestly, it takes so much more strength to want to live and to keep pushing. Did a complete 360: started eating healthy, working out, and solving the underlying issues of my past. Now, I’m healthy, happy, and loving my new lifestyle. I’ve lost 130 pounds naturally. I hope that my story will help someone battling weight loss or push someone to start living healthy.
Starting weight/Current weight
My starting weight was 289 at 5’1″. I currently weigh 150 pounds.
What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going when you felt like giving up?
I’d have to say my motivation was being healthy. I was tired of being overweight and having anxiety. I wanted to stop living in fear and take my life back!
What inspired me not to give up was simply the fact that I started to see progress. I knew I was doing something right, and I figured if I just kept going, only good could come out of it. Needless, to say I was right, so I stuck with it. Even when times got hard, I would think about why I started and how I would feel if I gave up on myself.
How long did your transformation take?
It was a long journey. It took almost two years to get to where I am today, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
Tell us about how you changed your eating habits.
I think the hardest part for me was changing my eating habits. I stopped eating sugar altogether and ONLY drank water. I stuck to proteins and ate a lot of vegetables: broccoli, greens, cabbage, carrots, onions, tomatoes, celery, potatoes, and peppers. I didn’t have a specific meal. I made my own plan and started meal prepping with healthy portion sizes.
What did your workout routine consist of?
Once I figured out my dietary plan, I started working out five times a week for 1 hour. I did weight lifting, sit-ups, and push-ups.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
I learned that you can do anything in this world if you put your time, your mind, and your dedication into it. Everything is possible if you change the way you see things.
What advice do you have for people who want to lose weight?
I want people to know that it’s never too late to start. Your process won’t be like anyone else’s, which gives you the advantage to make it your own plan and own it! Anything is possible if you believe it’s possible. Keep pushing for greatness. We all have it in us.
