Transformation of the Day: Nikita lost 85 pounds. In the midst of being a mom, advancing her career and dealing with life’s challenges, she decided to start treating herself better. She has found success with the Keto lifestyle. Check out her story.
What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
I have been overweight for most of my adult life. I would yo-yo diet with the intent to lose pounds fast. I would find success and then go back to my old habits. Before I knew it, I was worse off than when I started.
I wish I could say that I had some great epiphany or that there was a specific moment that turned me. In truth, it was everything I was experiencing at that moment time. I was working through some tough things in my personal life. My career was picking up momentum, and I was starting to be challenged professionally. My daughter was bridging a new part of her childhood into middle school. Then, there was just life in general. I woke up one day and just started treating myself better.
I have found great inspiration in reading and hearing about other people’s successes. I have also seen the progress I’ve made and don’t want to ever go back to how I felt before. I saw a picture that said, “That food will never taste as good as I feel” and for me that could not be more true.
How did you change your eating habits?
I changed to a Keto lifestyle. I keep my intake of processed carbohydrates to less than 20 grams per day. I’ve mainly cut out customary sugars, grains, pasta, and bread. I say customary because the Keto community has creative and yummy substitutes for nearly everything. I have a sweet tooth and still enjoy keto-friendly cake and candy.
What did your workout routine consist of?
I worked out very little, about two times a month. I think about including regular exercise into my routine, but I’m not going to force it. I will do it when the time is right.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was 265 pounds, and my current weight is 180 pounds.
What is your height?
5’4″
When did you start your journey? How long did your transformation take?
I changed my lifestyle in mid-August 2018. Most of my current pics are ten months after I began. I am still transforming.
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
No, I have not had weight loss surgery.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned?
I’ve learned that your palate changes with you. I love foods now that I never thought I would.
What advice do you have for women who want to lose weight?
My advice is to do it your way. There are so many plans, so much advice, and too many fads. There is no magic pill, exercise, or diet plan that will give you what you need. Everyone’s weight loss journey is unique. That means that what it takes for one person to get to their success will be different from what it takes for you. So, do what works for YOU!
