Nicola lost 55 pounds adopting healthier eating habits and working out. This proud single mom of three started her weight loss journey two years ago. She learned that the key is consistency.
My name is Nicola, and I am a proud single mother of three boys. After having my youngest child, I decided to lose weight. I wanted to have the body I know I can have.
When did you start your journey?
It’s been two years since I started, and I’ve tried to stay consistent. When it comes to everything that I have done to lose weight, I fell off quite a few times. When I realized I was backtracking or stuck at the same weight, I would pick back up where I left off.
How did you change your eating habits?
When it comes to what I ate, I tried different things throughout the two years. Some months, I would do two shakes a day with one meal. Some months, I would cut out carbs. Other months, I would stay away from fast food and junk food. I usually drink nothing but water. Now and then, I would drink some juice or maybe even a soda. (Not proud, but it happened, lol.)
I never stuck to one diet or one method of eating habits to lose weight. There were plenty of times when I simply cut down on how much I ate because I knew it wasn’t healthy.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
When I decided to take weight loss seriously, I weighed 245 pounds. Now, I weigh 190 pounds (some days 193 lbs, lol). I’m NOT at my goal, which is 160 but very close.
What is your height?
I’m 5’8″.
What did your workout routine consist of? How often did you work out?
As far as working out, I mainly walk for 30 minutes to an hour 4-7 times a week. For two years, I’ve also worked out in the gym 3-5 times a week. Now, I do work out in the house 3-4 times a week.
What is the biggest lesson you learned?
Staying consistent is the key to success. What I’ve learned and what motivates me about my weight loss journey is that slow and steady wins the race.
