My name is Nicole Bonds, and I’ve lost 115 pounds naturally over the last 3 years and 9 months. My personal health journey is called #ProjectLIVE and I’ve documented it online with this hashtag.
What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
My motivation is not wanting to die prematurely like so many of my family members. My mother died at the age of 55. I made a vow that I would not die before my assignment on Earth was complete.
I was inspired to keep going because my transformation has impacted so many lives around me. I also know there is so much more I’m supposed to do in my life, so I can’t afford to waste my good health!
How did you change your eating habits?
In Dec 2021, I did a 14-day vegan challenge, which I believe was inspired by my faith. My health was declining, and I knew if I didn’t make some serious changes, I was in trouble.
What started as a 14-day vegan challenge turned into almost a year. Eventually, I started eating some seafood and egg whites from time to time. I am proud to say it’s been over two years since I gave up chicken, beef, pork, turkey, etc. I do a 7-day fast monthly that is mostly vegan and I do intermittent fasting.
What is your workout routine?
I’ve had a personal trainer for the last four years. She has been a great motivator and helped me remain active even virtually. My workouts consist of cardio, strength training, HIIT, and workout classes from time to time.
How often did you work out?
I work out 3-5 times a week.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
starting weight – 350 pounds
current weight – 235 pounds
What is your height?
I’m 5’3″.
When did you start your journey? How long did your transformation take?
I started on June 10, 2020. (3 years & nine months ago)
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
My trainer, Vosh, taught me, “You’ll never transform a body you don’t love.” That has been life-changing for me!
What advice do you have for women who want to lose weight?
Find your why! Until you know that, everything you do regarding your health journey will be in vain. My why keeps me going every day. I refuse to quit on myself!
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
No, I’ve not had any weight loss surgeries, medical interventions, medicines, or any other diet enhancements. I pray, fast, and soul detox. I changed my diet. I exercise regularly, drink my water, and mind my business!
