What was your motivation?
I’m Creole, and the food in my hometown ranges from deep fried to deep soul, all seasoned and hard to resist. I’ve come a long way, but I’m not done yet because there is so much more to go.
I struggled with “food noise.” For those who don’t know what that is, it’s basically a mental voice telling you that you’re always hungry and have to eat everything in sight.
I also struggled with type 2 diabetes. It took having a very high A1c to get me to make lifestyle changes and properly begin a weight loss journey. My doctor placed me on a Glp-1 (Mounjaro). It’s absolutely not an easy way out! I still have to work out and work hard. It’s just that the food noise is gone now, so mentally, it’s a lot easier to be healthy.
Starting weight/Current weight
I started at 275 pounds. Today, I’m at 208 pounds and my next weigh-in is next week.
What is your workout routine?
My workout routine is walking as much as possible while at work and getting on the treadmill at home. I work out every other day.
What is your height?
My height is 5’5″.
When did your journey begin?
My journey started years ago, but the results would go up and down. That is until November 2024, when I started taking the Glp-1.
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
Surgery is not an option for me.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
The biggest lesson I’ve learned so far is that determination is key. I had to be fully determined to discipline myself to make better choices.
What advice would you like to share with women who want to lose weight?
My advice for women who want to lose weight is: don’t be afraid to start; once you start, don’t give up. We all are different and lose weight at our own pace. Also, don’t compare your results to the next person.
Thank you for allowing me to share my ongoing story. ~Nicky from Louisiana
