Transformation of the Day: Nicki lost more than 50 pounds. Check out how she did it. This Ghanaian/Nigerian sista from the UK shares her journey on social media to hold herself accountable and to inspire others to reach their goals.
What was your motivation?
My motivation to lose weight was seeing myself in a New York vlog that I filmed for my YouTube channel in early 2017. I looked a state compared to my slim, small bestfriend. I just having to cut certain camera angles made me realize that I can’t cut things in real life. I had let myself go and I had to make a change.
Everyone who follows my fitness journey on YouTube, they hold me accountable and their comments inspire me so much. As cheesy as this sounds, we are each other’s #fitspiration.
How did you change your eating habits?
I created my own meal plan where I followed a low carb, moderate fat and high protein diet. This allowed me to enjoy delicious meals while losing weight. (I turned that plan into a meal guide available on my website)
Starting weight/Current weight
I’m 5’4″ and I started my journey at 13 stone 10 (192 pounds). I’ve lost more than 50 pounds since then. I am waiting to share my actual weight with the world until I finally get to my goal weight.
The SCARIEST thing about the after pic on the right is I was the same weight 4 years ago. I went gym 5 tines a week (minus weight training that I do now) and I ate healthy back then. Sometimes, history repeats itself, however this time things are different!
When did you start your journey?
I started my journey in January 2017.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that no one can encourage you to lose weight. Only you can. You have to really want it to make that change, because it’s hard very and it’s a huge mental battle!
What advice would you share with other women who want to lose weight?
Take it slow and enjoy the journey! Also, take lots of pictures so you can be even more proud of journey. Seeing yourself everyday in the mirror, it’s hard to notice the changes.
