Transformation of the Day: Nellie lost 37 pounds. This mom of 3 wanted to reap the benefits of a healthy lifestyle. She cleaned up her eating habits, worked with a personal trainer and encouraged herself when no one else would.
What was your motivation?
My motivation (i.e. my big why) was living a healthier life for my 3 daughters.
How did you change your eating habits?
I cut out a lot of sweets, bread, pasta, pork and beef. I drink a lot of water. No juice or soda for me. I also drink green smoothies for breakfast to boost my energy.
What does your workout routine look like?
I work out 3 times a week with my personal trainer Jamal Perry at Top Notch Fitness and Nutrition (@TopNotchfit_nutrition). Weight training is part of my routine, along with tons of cardio, ab/core workouts, squats and lunges. On the days that I don’t workout with my trainer, I go to the park and walk/jog.
Starting weight/Current weight
I’m 5’5″ and my current weight is 236 pounds. I started my journey in January 2016 and I weighed 273 pounds. I’ve had a few hiccups, but I restarted my journey in December 2016.
What advice would you like to share?
My advice to others who are trying to lose weight: Be your own motivation. Encourage yourself, because there are times when no one else will.
