Weight Loss Story: Nedra lost 28 pounds. When she started her business, it took up all of her extra time. Now, she has refocused on herself, her health and her weight loss goals. She started her journey in September and she is going strong. Here is what she shared with us…
I’m a surgical technologist and I’ve lost weight once before, about 5 years ago. Once I reached my goal, I completely stopped exercising and began to eat outrageously. My weight then hung around 180 pounds until about a year ago when I started the Kustom Kids. No, I don’t blame working on that stuff for my extra weight. However, that was where all of my extra time went. I work full time and as soon as I would get off, I would go home and work on my projects/orders. I would work until 1 – 2am and have to be up by 6am.
Now, I’m adding exercise to my hobby list and it comes first. I’ve been going to the gym 4-5 times a week and I also exercise at home when I can’t make it. I start with 45 minutes of cardio followed with 6 reps of thighs, back and abs on weight training machines. I usually do 45 minutes on the treadmill or elliptical, but I switch up and sometimes do the stair climber.
My food intake mainly consists of using portion control. I also keep in mind if I’m going to eat a heavier, not so healthy lunch then I must switch it up for dinner… and vice versa. I eat a ton of fruit, vegetables, smoothies and water. I cut out soda completely as well. Although I know I shouldn’t have fast food, I still have it once in a while and only in moderation (half portions). I feel that I will end up in the same situation I was in before if I completely deprive myself from the foods I love.
I began working out 9/1/15 weighing 210 pounds. I weight in weekly and post to my FB page. I currently weigh 182 pounds and I’m 5’4″. I have 22 lbs more to go to hit my goal of reaching the 50 pound mark. My weight was 143 lbs a few years ago and I’ll be fine reaching my goal of 160 lbs. If all goes well, maybe even 150 lbs.
