Transformation of the Day: Ndeye lost 70 pounds. Intermittent fasting and exercise worked for her. She learned that it takes discipline and consistency to get results.
What was your motivation?
I realized I had to do something about my weight during the summer of 2019 when I couldn’t fit into a dress I ordered online. At that point, I started to feel insecure and unhappy. I stepped on the scale and found out that I weighed 240 pounds. I couldn’t believe I gained that much weight. During this time, I was active, but my eating habits were bad.
One day, I was on Instagram and saw a post from @thickfitqueen. She motivated me to start doing home workouts, and that is when it all began. From September 2019 to April 2020, I got down to 170 pounds.
How did you change your eating and exercise habits
I started intermittent fasting for 16 hours. I ate three times a day as my body got used to my new routine. Then, I started doing IF for 20 hours with two meals a day.
I drank lots of water, as well as black coffee and tea. I became more organized with the way I was eating and had a cheat meal once a week. I also ate lots of vegetables and fruits and used portion control. Protein shakes helped me a lot.
Tell us about your workout routine.
I worked out 5 days a week. I was working out while fasting. My workouts included jumping rope and using dumbbells and kettlebells.
What is your height?
My height is 5’5″.
What kept you motivated?
What kept me motivated was that I started to have more energy. I would also try on clothes and to see how loose they’d become. These things made me go even harder.
Seeing the numbers on the scale motivated me. Seeing women on Instagram who are successful in their weight loss journeys motivated me as well.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
I’ve learned that nothing happens overnight. Give yourself time, and you will see results. Weight loss takes discipline. There were times when I didn’t feel like working out, but I would push myself and remind myself how far I’d come. Just stay consistent, and you will eventually see results.
What advice would you like to share?
Consistency and changing the way you eat is the most important thing. You’re not on a diet or a temporary change. It has to be a permanent change. Also, eating the right portion sizes is most important.
