Transformation of the Day: Natalee lost 55 pounds. In her thirties, she found out she was pre-everything -hypertension, diabetes, high cholesterol, etc. By the time she reached 35 years old, she was ready to create the healthy lifestyle she truly wanted. With intention, commitment, and guidance from her trainer, she has transformed her mind and her body.
When did you start your journey? How long did your transformation take?
I officially began my journey in November 2018. By November 2019, I lost 55 pounds.
What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going when you wanted to give up?
I was in the last year in my 30’s, and I weighed 194.2 pounds. My heaviest weight was 210 pounds. I was exhausted, overwhelmed, and frustrated with how I was living my life. I knew I needed to shift, but couldn’t find the willpower. I lived this same story year after year.
A few years before, I was told by my doctor that I was pre-everything -hypertension, diabetes, high cholesterol, etc. Even my eye doctor confirmed what my primary doctor was telling me. I had terrible inflammation in my feet as well.
I was 35 years old when I learned all of this, and I held the information. I tried to eat healthy and exercise. However, mid-way into the process, I would self-sabotage and go right back to eating whatever, and add on more weight. This was a sad cycle!
Ultimately, my motivation and inspiration were that I did not want to enter my 40’s unhealthy, taking several medications, overwhelmed, exhausted, and frustrated. I wanted health and wellness for myself and my family. I wanted an energetic, fulfilled, and gratified life that I love and want to talk about.
How did you change your eating habits?
I got intentional, committed, aligned, accountable, and disciplined. I eliminated carbs, soda, juices, and sugar from my diet. I only drink water. I started eating whole foods and vegetables.
I got a personal trainer and followed his directions when it came to eating and exercising (shout out to HERCFIT). I also created my own proven ICAAD strategy, which created a mindset shift. ICAAD is Intention, Commitment, Alignment, Accountability, and Discipline. Over the years, I tried many plans and programs, but I could not stick to them. ICAAD worked for me.
What did your workout routine consist of? How often did you workout?
I wanted to create a lifestyle, so I worked out for 90 days, every day. It is now my lifestyle to work out and eat healthy food.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was 194.2 pounds. On day 365, I weighed 139.1 pounds. I currently weigh 141.1 pounds.
What is your height?
I am 5 feet, 6 inches.
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
I did not have weight loss surgery. I am proof that you can shift self-limiting beliefs to accomplish your goals, not only in weight loss but life goals as well.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned?
The biggest lesson I have learned is you must shift your mindset, and be fully intentional and committed to yourself and what you would like to create. If you do not love yourself, no one else will.
What advice do you have for people who want to lose weight?
Be fully intentional and committed to yourself. It is okay to take time for your health. If you do not love and take care of yourself, no one else will.
Be your biggest cheerleader, and know that working on your well-being will be rewarded with you becoming the best version of yourself. The rewards are more than just losing weight – it is complete alignment with body, mind, and soul.
