Nashia lost 82 pounds. During her college years, she experienced significant weight gain. After graduation, she decided to focus on losing weight, creating a healthy lifestyle, and avoiding illness. She figured out what works for her nutrition-wise and worked out 3-4 days a week.
What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
My motivation came from a fear of increasing health concerns, including pre-diabetes, high blood pressure, and low energy in my 20s. Most of my weight gain happened in college. Once I graduated, buckled down, and began taking weight loss seriously, I slowly started losing weight. I’ve changed my whole outlook on this journey to maintain a healthy lifestyle long term.
How did you change your eating habits?
I tried various dietary changes over the years. I no longer eat red meat, I’ve increased my water intake, and eat low carb meals.
What did your workout routine consist of? How often did you work out?
My workout routine consists of 3-4 days of physical activity each week, including boxing, jogging, resistance training, and HIIT circuits.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
Starting weight: 252 pounds
Current weight: 170 pounds
What is your height?
5’3″
When did you start your journey? How long did your transformation take?
I officially started my fitness journey in January 2016, with the goal of that being the last time I set weight loss as a New Year’s resolution. I decided to take my health seriously. So far, it’s been four years, and I’m still going strong with this lifelong healthy lifestyle.
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
No weight loss surgery.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
I’ve learned not to focus so much on the numbers on the scale. During this four year journey, my numbers have fluctuated. Keeping my stress under control is essential for weight loss, so I use exercise as a good stress reliever.
What advice do you have for women who want to lose weight?
Don’t stop and keep pushing through, even during the tough times. I’ve had my ups and downs over time during my journey thus far and know it’s not easy. Finding ways to hold yourself accountable is important. Often penciling in workouts on a schedule/calendar and meal prepping helps.
