What was your inspiration? What inspired me to keep going was the fact that I went through a traumatic pregnancy that left me as a single parent. I could either do one of two things;
- Sit and be miserable, wishing my life was miserable,
- Or I could get up every day and work out, seek therapy, and be a strong mother physically and mentally for my baby.
How did you change your eating habits? I cut back on alcohol a lot. I still enjoyed my glass of wine, but I cut back on the liquor. I ate five small meals a day every 2-3 hours and stopped eating at 8 pm. I also started to increase my protein a lot more. I never ate so many egg whites in my life, lol.
What is your workout routine? I get up at 5 am every morning before my son wakes up. I created a little workout station in my living apartment. I do a mix of weight training and HIIT. I also love dance fitness.
How often did you work out?
I worked out 5-6 days a week.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
I weighed 213 pounds at the start. I currently weigh 160 pounds.
What is your height?
5’4″
When did you start your journey?
I started my weight loss journey in November 2020. I lost 30 pounds at six months post-partum. I lost a total of 50 pounds after a year. Now, two years later, I have been consistent with maintaining that 50 lb weight loss.
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
No weight loss surgery. I did it all naturally!
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
The biggest lesson I have learned so far is to give myself grace. Not every day is going to be easy. Actually, some days are going to be hard as hell. So if I slip up and eat a cheeseburger, I don’t have to be so down on myself. I just pick back up where I left off and go hard!
Life is not a straight line. There will be ups and downs, but the journey is worth it all.
