What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
My driving force and motivation were my kids and not feeling like a 60-year-old woman while in my 30s. I gained close to 100 pounds overa three-year period due to severe depression and anxiety.
When I learned I was a pre-diabetic, I began to make juices and eat healthier meals for a while. It definitely helped because I dropped 20 pounds and even felt better. But, unfortunately, I fell back into a dark spell and quickly put the weight back on. I finally made the decision to have bariatric surgery in June 2022.
I had vertical sleeve gastrectomy surgery. After three years of failed attempts to lose it on my own, this was the best decision of my life.
How did you change your eating habits?
Protein is a huge factor after having bariatric surgery, so I aim to eat as many high-protein meals, veggies, and high-fiber foods as I can. I also like to rotate between vegetarian and paleo meals.
My biggest kryptonite is sweets!! I love chocolate, cheesecake, and chips, lol. I still eat them but definitely in moderation! If I go overboard, I add an extra 20 mins to my workout the next day.
What is your workout routine?
I love weight training, HIIT, yoga, and the elliptical! Next year I want to incorporate CrossFit and jiu-jitsu into my workouts.
How often did you work out?
I work out six days a week. If I’m not at the gym, I’m in my living room doing YouTube workouts.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was 237 pounds, and my current weight is 165 pounds.
What is your height?
I’m 4’11”

When did you start your journey? How long did your transformation take?
I started my journey in June 2022. Because of my surgery, the weight began to fall off quite easily. After a month, I was given the ok to get in the gym and never looked back.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
I learned to give myself GRACE! To fight for ME!
