Transformation of the Day: Myla lost 154 pounds. She didn’t let binge eating, sleep apnea, high blood pressure, high cholesterol or pre-diabetes stop her from becoming a healthier, more active mom. Check out her story.
I was overweight my entire adult life. I tried multiple times to lose the weight. I had some success, but I was never able to keep the weight off.
I began the process towards getting Gastric Bypass Surgery almost 2 years ago. During that time, I found out that I suffer from a Binge Eating Disorder. I also had sleep apnea, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and I was pre-diabetic. My highest recorded weight was 328 pounds, and I’m 5’4.
I ended up getting weight loss surgery on 7/28/17. Since then I have lost a total of 154 pounds. My current weight is 174 pounds.
Some people like to say that weight loss surgery is taking “the easy way out.” I’m here to testify otherwise. I have busted my ass to get to where I am today. I fight daily to stay on track with eating low carb/keto. I go to the gym at least 6 days a week. I do lots of cardio and strength training.
The most challenging part of this journey for me has been the emotional aspect. My “Fat Brain” doesn’t always allow me to see how far I’ve come. Learning to love and accept myself is coming along. I’m not sure if I’ll ever be confident, but I do have confident moments, and that is the best feeling!
I want to encourage someone not to compare themselves to society’s standard of beauty. I want to encourage someone to be their own kind of beautiful and embrace their individuality. I want to encourage someone to love themselves enough to leave their comfort zone and make a change for the betterment of their health. If I could reach just one person and
encourage them to take risks, work hard and BE THEIR BEST SELF, then I’ve done my due diligence. Seeing other people have success on their journeys always inspires me.
Being the healthiest most active mother to my kids is what keeps me motivated to continue on my journey. Life has changed drastically throughout the course of my journey in the most positive way. Things are looking up, and I’m excited about the future. I am currently working on losing my last 30-40lbs and leaning out. I hope to get some skin removal surgery by the end of the year!

I am so happy for you! Surgery is not the easy way out, despite what people say! They don’t know how you struggle to keep the smallest amount of food down.. Or how the “fat girl “ is still in the mirror for you. They whispers and stares make you feel guilty for being able to buy clothes without trying them on. I should have sought out counseling, but I didn’t know. I also should have stayed away from sweets! I’m back on track, eating healthy, even though I still can only eat small portions. God bless you, you look Amazing. I am proud of you. 👏🏾👏🏾🥰🥰

So happy for you sis! I haven’t had weight loss surgery, and I have heard people say that surgery is the easy way out, but forget them! Nobody has to live in your skin but YOU and you did what you felt was best for YOU. My sister had gastric bypass and I remember her puking a lot, not being able to hold certain foods down that she was used to eating. My stepbrother also had gastric bypass, lost hundreds of pounds and gained it all back. So no girl, we know you worked your @$$ off! Keep it up and thanks for the inspiration!

Yassssssss! YOU ARE AWESOME!! You inspire me so much. Surgery is not “the easy way out” as some people say. I had the Gastric Sleeve on December 17th 2018 and not even 1 month out yet and already 20lbs down! But the struggle is real and you have to fight for every ounce. I am proud of you for being able to stick with your program and keep the weight off and I wish you much success in all areas of life and a successful skin removal surgery when the time comes! KEEP DOING WHAT YOU DO GIRLFRIEND!!
